Ethical Consumer Powers New Palm Oil Campaign

Ethical Consumer and the Rainforest Foundation have joined forces to respond to the threat facing the Congo rainforest.

Palm oil is an ingredient used in thousands of products from chocolate to shampoo. However, the mass production of palm oil is devastating the world's rainforests.

The aim of the campaign is to encourage consumers to buy best rated products, forcing companies to use more sustainably sourced palm oil and not cut down native forests in the Congo basin in Africa.

Their extensive research now powers the Rainforest Foundation's campaign and palm oil guides to highlight which products contain it and the best ways to avoid it.

They have rated the palm oil usage of companies that produce:

  • chocolate
  • bread
  • biscuits
  • skincare
  • make-up
  • hair products
  • party food
  • cleaning products
